The Journey Begins
Life is a Journey, not a Destination
As a little girl I remember laying in my bed day dreaming about what my life would look like, how I would grow up and work in an orphanage and adopt several little babies. How I would be a rescuer… a Mother to the Motherless.
And so my journey began.
When I graduated High School, I promptly moved to Oklahoma to prepare to move to Africa and work with orphans for the rest of my life! That was the plan and I saw nothing else ahead. But….God always has different plans than we think. They’re good plans…but we tend to assume that one desire must mean IT’S GOD’S PLAN and we head off thinking that’s the only thing ahead. But in my almost 36 years of experience I have discovered that God gives us desires so we will begin our journey and along the way He has things for us to learn…to pick up and put in our pockets for a later time…because He knows what’s ahead and with every step we grow stronger and more prepared for what He has planned for us. I don’t believe He has just one plan for our life. Our whole life is HIS PLAN and in Jeremiah 29:11, He says: For I KNOW the PLANS I have for you….plans that are good…to give us hope AND a future.
If I had known what my life would look like back then, I wouldn’t have been excited to start my journey and I would have chosen an easier path. What a boring life it would have been! This is my journey and how it He is teaching me to trust Him deeper….to take my roots deeper in Him (my source of life and peace) and to be like the tree that is planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither… Psalm 1:3.
